Let’s Get Metaphysical!

Not long after I landed in Sedona back in 1997 (after three months on the road), I booked a session with a sound healer I’d met at a local metaphysical event. Like so many of my other Sedona experiences over the years, it was a life-changer.

I was already a Reiki master, although by then I’d abandoned Reiki orthodoxy for my own modality of energy work. And when I left the sound healer’s home that September evening, I knew (not entirely happily) that I needed to incorporate sound into my sessions.

Over the next seven years, my energy work largely took the form of the spontaneous blend of toning, chanting and wordless singing that came through me. And when my marriage ended in 2004 and I left Sedona, that work (under various names) was what supported me through two of the nearly three years of an earlier open-ended road odyssey. I crisscrossed the country multiple times during those 24 months, offering private and group sessions to supplement the twice monthly sound-activation teleconference events I was already facilitating.

The sessions were as activating for me as they were for clients and participants.

Always unusual and sometimes off-key, my sounds ranged from grating to melodic, often carrying elements of Middle Eastern, Hawaiian and Native American tones and rhythms. I never knew what would come out of my mouth and over time learned to trust that whatever I sang was perfect in the moment. As with writing The MoonQuest, it was a training in judgment-free surrender. And as with The MoonQuest, it was not always easy to still my doubting, critical monkey mind, even as people reported powerful physical and emotional results. My events and my schedule back then were always full.

Until they weren’t.

One day in 2007, it was over. I couldn’t even get people to come to my regular free events! The potency of the work hadn’t diminished, yet it was clear to me that it was time for me to do something else.

That something else turned out to be The MoonQuest, and the 20 or so books that have followed it, along with my writing workshops and creativity coaching. Since then, while I continued to do sound work for myself and the occasional client, it was far from my primary focus. It wasn’t even a secondary focus!

A week or so ago, however, as I was driving north on I-25 out of Santa Fe, I was struck by an intuitive thunderbolt: It was time to revive that aspect of my work. It was time to resurrect my metaphysical self. These times are so profoundly challenging (and not solely for me) that it became clear to me that this powerfully activating and transformational work was needed. Badly. In a sense, it’s time had come. And that time was now.

So I am once again offering private vocal sound-energy sessions and am looking for in-person and virtual ways to offer group experiences.

I call this latest iteration of my sound sessions and events Heaven on Earth Ascension Activations because their aim is not to carry you off to some higher dimensional place and leave you there, but to give you the activational push that will help you ground that “heaven” into the “earth” of your life in the here and now. One of the compliments I was most proud of back in the day was when I was told how grounding my metaphysical work was.

It still is.

Back to that thunderbolt. There was more to it than sound healing, just as there’d been more to my metaphysical work of two decades ago.

If you’ve followed my Facebook over the past month or so, you might recall a few of the light-language “energy drawings” I posted there. I drew more than a hundred of those in the years between 2004 and 2007, and sold many hundreds of them — at my events and through my website.

Language of light, a metaphysical term, can take many visual forms: calligraphic, runic, geometric, hieroglyphic or a blend of any of those. Like my sound-healing, itself a vocal form of light language, it touches places in our psyche far beneath the conscious mind, and any interpretations come from that same place. In an energetic-vibrational sense, it carries the same transformational potential as crystals, working subtly — sometimes not so subtly — at physical, emotional, spiritual and mental levels.

Well, my drawings are back too!

Like my sound work, though, they’ve matured and taken on new dimensions and more potency, at least to those who have experienced them in recent weeks. And in keeping with advances in creative technology, I now draw them on my iPad with Procreate and an Apple Pencil, not with colored pencils on paper. Now, too, thanks to advances in self-publishing, one of my next projects is an oracle deck featuring a new batch of my drawings.

(I’d often been urged to use my original drawings for such a deck. Then, though, it would have been expensive and impractical.)

But wait. There’s more! Not only did I create energy drawings on various healing and spiritual themes, I was also commissioned by many of my clients to create personalized “energy portraits” for them. I’ve started creating those portraits again as well. Moreover, I also offer an optional time-lapse video recording of the portrait, accompanied by my light-language singing.

Unlike 17 years ago, however, I’m not trading one form of my work for another. Even as I renew my metaphysical offerings, I’m continuing to work on my books-in-progress (including Book 5 in my Legend of Q’ntana fantasy series and Hello, Yellow Brick Road, the memoir that will chronicle this journey). My coaching practice continues as well, and I’m still open to visiting your book club (as long as it’s reading one of my books!).

And while we’re talking writing resources, I have some really good news: Because it’s too challenging as I’m traveling to schedule new workshops, I’ve slashed the prices of my at-your-own pace workshops-on-video to encourage you to get writing! You’ll find them on the Courses page of my website.

Because my overtly metaphysical past predates social media, many of you know nothing about it (unless you’ve read my Acts of Surrender memoir and/or The Book of Messages, of course(!). So I guess this is (yet) another coming out for me. It’s not that I was hiding it. It just wasn’t directly relevant to my work in the world. Now, apparently, it is!
